Creating a New Virtual Machine Template
Clicking ''Next'' after the guest operating system profile settings have been configured displays the ''Select Library Server'' screen. By default, the wizard will list library servers it is already aware of. Select the required server and click ''Next'' to proceed to the Select Path screen. Use the ''Browse'' button to select an appropriate location in the VMM Library share folder to store the template. Once a location has been specified, click ''Next'', review the ''Summary'' screen and, assuming the summary matches expectations, click ''Create'' to generate the template. The template creation process may take some time to complete depending on the size of the virtual hard disk. If the template is based on an existing virtual machine, the process involves the running of sysprep on the guest operating system image which may take a considerable amount of time.

Once a template has been created it is ready to be used to deploy virtual machines on host systems. To perform a deployment, ensure that the Library view of the VMM Administrator Console is displayed and select the ''VMs and Templates'' entry in the Library Resources pane in the top left hand corner for the console. Once selected, a list of templates will appear in the center pane:

To deploy a virtual machine based on the template, right click on the template in the list and select ''Deploy'' from the resulting menu to display the ''Deploy virtual machine'' wizard as illustrated below:

The initial screen displays a list of virtualization hosts known to the VMM Server to which the VMM Administrator Console is attached. From this list, select the target host onto which the new virtual machine is to deployed and click ''Next''. On the ''Select Path'' screen, select a location on a file system which is visible to the target host and proceed to the ''Select Network'' screen.

The network screen provides a list of network adapters configured into the virtual machine and provide the option to configure which virtual networks on the host the devices should be connected to. Select the required virtual network from the drop down menu, or leave the default setting of ''Not connected'' if network connectivity is not required.

Click ''Next'' to proceed to the ''Summary'' screen, review the information and click ''Deploy'' to deploy the new virtual machine onto the selected host. Once the deployment is complete, the new virtual machine will appear in ''Virtual Machines'' view of the VMM Administrator Console and is ready to be started.
